These can be made with wider panels than folding doors. You will see them in Two, Three and Four panels. As their name suggests they slide on their existing Cill line. The maximum opening available would be about 45% of the width with a Two and Four panel door.

Patio Doors have been around over 40-years in the replacement market, prior to that they were made in timber and a special order. I see them from time to time, large wide timber sections where one door would not have been opened for 20-years and the other just being able to open with a little help on a summers day.
